You will have a unique opportunity to see the real life of the locals from the inside, learn from their habits and join in on their traditions. You will also be met with kind curiosity about yourself and your own lifestyle and get to share from your knowledge, experiences and personal patterns. Professional skills are not a requirement for young volunteers, but the voluntary spirit and work ethics are a must. A requirements document or certification to prove your English proficiency would be an advantage (if not an interview via Skype will be arranged). Sociology, Marketing and Hospitality students will be prioritized.

8. Will I be working with other volunteers?
For each project or working place, there are about three international volunteers, working together. Who you will end up working with, depends on the project and registration time. You will be informed about your co-workers when you receive our Congratulation Letter.
9. How far in advance should I apply?
Register with us at least three months in advance, to make sure that OpenM has time to find the perfect solution for you as a volunteer. If you submit your application late (2-3 weeks before your planned arrival in Vietnam), your application will be considered only if your profile appropriated to your project requirement.
10. What are the meals and accommodation like?
Volunteers will be placed in a Vietnamese host family of either entrepreneurs or OpenM’s clients. They will supply you with breakfast and dinner, and lunch you will get at work, meaning that you will be living off Vietnamese cuisine. Vietnamese food is known to be foreigner friendly with its diversity and mild spices. Many international volunteers fell in love with Vietnam because of our cuisine.
11. Which vaccinations should I take?
Whichever project you join, you will be placed in Ho Chi Minh City, and will therefore not need any specific vaccinations. Most doctors will recommend you to take a few vaccinations against some tropical diseases when visiting Asia including Hepatitis A and B. Remember that these vaccinations often comprise three injections with a necessary pause of a few months in between, but if you realise that you have started too late, OpenM can help you arrange your repeat injections with a Vietnamese hospital.
